#8 Men's Lacrosse Posts 17-5 Win Over Utica

Utica, N.Y. -- The eighth-ranked men's lacrosse team posted a 17-5 win over Utica Saturday afternoon, to improve to 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in Empire 8 play. Ithaca also extended its conference record to 18 consecutive regular season Empire 8 wins. Junior Craig Lepiane (West Irondequoit/Rochester) tallied four goals and two assists to lead the Bombers.
 
Junior Kevin Bush (Arapahoe [Colo.]/East Point, Fla.) opened the scoring with 5:29 remaining in the opening quarter to start a 6-0 run for the Bombers, who owned a 3-0 lead after the first quarter and held an 8-2 advantage at halftime. Ithaca scored each of the seven third quarter goals to put the game out of reach. The Pioneers (4-5, 0-2 Empire 8) netted three of the five fourth quarter goals for the 17-5 final.
 
Bush finished with four goals and one assist and classmate Logan Bobzien (Arapahoe/Centennial, Colo.) added two goals and one assist. Sophomore Mike Cintineo (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) also scored two goals. Freshman Nic Heckman (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) picked up the first two points of his collegiate career with a goal and an assist.
 
SeniorDennis Butler (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) recorded eight saves in 44:22 to pick up the victory in goal. Sophomores Ben Connery (Homer/Homer) and Collin Meadow (Downingtown East/Downingtown, Pa.) combined for three saves in the forth quarter.
 
Ithaca next travels to #14 Cortland for a 7p.m. contest on Wednesday, April 4.
